the World Wide Web turns 25

the World Wide Web is all grown up! March 12 marked the 25th anniversary of the creation of the web by British scientist Tim Berners- Lee, and it’s amazing to see just how far it’s come: in 1995, roughly 14% of Americans accessed the internet. the days of the irritating AOL dial-tone sound and awkwardly navigating chat rooms are now but a distant memory, as the number of users has increased to 87%. these days, high-speed internet access and social networking sites have become so routine that it would be difficult to imagine travelling back in time to re-live those ancient days of computer technology (not to mention some of the now-cringe worthy fashions of 1995). happy birthday, World Wide Web!
