deliver us from big budget summer blockbusters

Summer Movie Season means more than just big-budget special effects. it also involves surprise sleeper hits that scare the s*** out of audiences, as evidenced by last year’s The Conjuringthis little number (release date: July 2) is directed by Scott Derrickson, who is no stranger to spooking his fans (his resume includes Sinister and the wonderfully-crafted horror/courtroom drama The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, which was based on an actual case) and is inspired by reports filed courtesy of retired NYPD police sergeant Ralph Sarchie. the practice of exorcism, while still considered archaic by many modern Americans, is nonetheless a topic that piques interest regardless of what faith individuals believe in.
