high hopes

the surviving members of Pink Floyd will shine on with a new album due in October, according to David Gilmour‘s wife Polly Samson. the album, titled The Endless River, will be the band’s first release since 1994’s The Division Bell, which at the time was deemed to be their final output after a lengthy and successful career that was occasionally scuffed by legal battles (Gilmour vs. Roger Waters during the 1980’s) and tragedies (the deaths of Syd Barrett and Richard Wright in the past decade). the album will consist of unreleased tracks from the 1994 recording sessions, and will be co-produced by David Gilmour and Youth. it is unclear whether former guitarist Waters will partake in the recording, considering his difficult relationship with Gilmour (it’s a safe guess the answer will be a resounding “no”). plans for a tour are also unlikely. regardless, the wall that has surrounded the band for the past 20 years has finally been torn down.
