the world wide weird of the New York Public Library

the New York Public Library is a cultural institution to both residents and visitors of the city (and not just because it was featured in the opening scene of Ghostbusters). it houses more than 53 million items, which are spread out over 92 locations throughout its 5 major boroughs. among its collection include several items of literary paraphernalia that can best be described as “non-traditional”…you know, things like Walt Whitman’s hair or the lucky foot of Charles Dickens’ departed cat Bob (even back then, cats ruled the world…or just their owners).

if you happen to find yourself in the Big Apple, take a tour of NYPL’s Berg Library where you can see these and other weird objects on display (and maybe even a few ghosts).

ant nothin’ to it

like the rest of the planet, i followed suit and saw Ant-Man and the Wasp this past weekend. although i’m not well-versed in comic book lore, i have enough real-life sources to rely on in case i have too many questions (which i usually do…don’t even get me started on Infinity War) post-film. i also tend to be a bit behind when it comes to the MCU (i didn’t see the first Ant-Man until earlier this year, if that’s any indication). anyone who reads this blog knows that i’m devoted to the MECU (note the extra letter), or what’s now being referred to as the “Legendarium.” but it’s not that i have no interest in comic book movies; i just don’t get around to them as quickly as others do.

regardless, i have to say that Scott Lang (at least, the big screen version of him) is definitely one of my favorite Marvel heroes. he’s your (sort of) average guy just trying to make a better life for himself and his family, and moving forward from the mistakes he made in the past. we can all relate there.

yes, Ant-Man…we can forgive you for that time you toured with W.A.S.P.
